MEET OUR RETREAT CHEFS

Astrid

Creating nourishing food is my love language; to others, to myself, and to the Earth. As a holistic health coach and passionate cook inspired by the ancient wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and modern science, I am deeply devoted to the connection between nourishment, emotional wellbeing, and resilience.

Through my own healing journey with chronic anxiety and depletion, I learned to listen more deeply to the language of my body. It became clear to me that nourishment is never just about food. It lives in the intention with which the ingredients are chosen and are prepared, the presence with which it is received, and the quiet space we allow for it to be digested, integrated, and transformed.

This understanding continues in my work. I hold food as something sacred yet simple ~ offering wholesome, seasonal meals prepared with presence, care, and love, creating space for you to feel nourished, grounded, and at home within yourself.

As Divya Alter beautifully says: “Love is the most important ingredient in everything we make.” This is the essence I hope to bring to every meal I prepare.

Andreas

Andreas brings over 40 years of culinary artistry to the Somatic Sanctuary Yoga Retreat, blending nourishment with intention in every dish. Self-taught and driven by a sense of curiosity throughout decades of travel, Andreas journey into conscious cooking began with a deep curiosity about how food shapes not just the body, but the mind and spirit.

Specializing in plant-based, seasonal cuisine, Andreas draws inspiration from a range of regional/cultural influences — e.g., Ayurvedic principles, Mediterranean traditions, farm-to- table philosophy, crafting meals that support the body natural rhythms while honoring the sacred pause of the retreat experience. Each plate is designed to be both grounding and elevating — vibrant, whole-food ingredients prepared with the same mindfulness we bring to our practice on the mat.

Andreas believes food is medicine, and every meal is an invitation to come home to yourself. Guests can expect meals that awaken the senses — think fragrant herbs, seasonal produce, and dishes that feel like a quiet act of self-care with every bite.
